Inspirational weekend

Derbyshire Event & Wedding Planners have had a very packed weekend firstly visiting Bolsover Castle the truly magnificent venue for our Charity Cinderella Ball on 3 September 2011

Bolsover Castle was built in the 12th century by the Peverill family, but after years of neglect was purchased in 1553 by Sir George Talbot, later becoming the 6th Earl of Shrewsbury but noted for his marriage to 'Bess of Hardwick'. The Castle was sold on to Charles Cavendish in 1608 who set about rebuilding the Castle. His successors chose to live on their estate at Welbeck Abbey and in 1756 they stripped the lead from the roof at Bolsover to use at Welbeck. From 1883 the Castle has been unhabitable and was given to the nation by the 7th Duke of Portland in 1945, the property now belongs to the English Heritage.

What a great honour it is for us to host our Cinderella Ball at this stately building to raise money for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity. There is limited ticket availibility due to pre reserved tickets for this event what we know will be amazing in such a fantastic venue.

Moving on to meet up with Mandie at Formal & Fabulous and we nearly sat there all day watching the brides and prom girls we even picked out what kind of dress we wanted for Cinderella....

Our final pit stop of the weekend was to meet up with our competition winners Liz and Rich at their home to go through all the details of their wedding which we are really looking forward to on a Sunday in August at the beautiful Hodsock Priory in Blythe.

What an exciting and inspirational time we have had.....

Calling all Brides who want help and practical planning for one of the biggest days in your life......

Here at Derbyshire Wedding Planners, we believe that planning a wedding, should be a pleasure not a chore. A modern busy bride wants more from her Sunday morning than a room full of suppliers and that's where we can help.

We have great pleasure in inviting all you brides to attend the practical 'Bridal Planning Conference' at the brand new 4* Casa Hotel in Chesterfield. We have teamed up with Hannah of Little Fish Events and some of the region's preferred suppliers to help you organise your big day. Not everyone want's a wedding planner but we feel that many brides just want pointing in the right direction in what can be a minefield of information.

We aim to offer you practical advice, useful hints and support across a range of wedding issues, enabling you to set off full of inspiration, but with a plan to guide you through your wedding.

Included in the day will be:

• Experienced speakers to advise you on the 'Do's and Don'ts of planning for your big day and getting you through the process both physically and emotionally


• Information in smaller sessions on how to source suppliers, choosing the venue and managing your budget and suppliers effectively
  
• A catwalk show of fabulous gowns to give you ideas for your big day


• A market place of hand selected wedding suppliers exhibiting and they will answer any questions you might have and make appointments and bookings etc.
  
• Goody bag to take away with you including your own planning tools on a CD
  

So why not come along and perhaps bring with you your mother, sister, mother in law, bridesmaid in fact anyone who is helping you plan your big day and get a reduction for 2 places.

Tickets are £30 for one place and £55 for two. If you want to make a weekend of it overnight accommodation in one of the deluxe rooms (including breakfast) is available at a reduced rate.

New Year Update

We have now shortlisted and our winning couple for our wedding competition will be finalised in the next few days. A big thank you to all our bride and grooms for entering and supplying all their information to win this fabulous £4k package.

We have lots of new events this year and we kick start with our Suppliers Meeting at Grassmoor Golf Centre, Chesterfield on 25th January at 6.30pm for all you local suppliers please come along and meet up with other like minded wedding suppliers for a drink, catch up and exchange business cards. These are bi monthly so all future dates will be available at the first meeting.

On 9th February at 6.30pm we are holding another Ladies Night at Grassmoor Golf centre with lots of pampering for the ladies and the opportunity to buy clothes, bags, jewellery, trinkets etc in aid of Weston Park Cancer Hospital Charity. 'Come along all you ladies and enjoy treating yourself and being pampered'

Our first Wedding Fayre this year is at the fantastic new Casa Hotel on Sunday 27th March and we are giving away a 'Handing Over Package' worth £600 as part of a competition available to a lucky bride and groom by the organisers.
