2012 here we come........

Reflecting on 2011 which has been a fabulous year for Derbyshire Event & Wedding Planners.

We have also organised very successful Tribute events at the 4* Casa Hotel which have included Michael Buble and Take That nights both sell out events. We had great fun at the 2 Casino events we organised at Grassmoor Golf Club and Rufford Park Golf and Country Club. However, one of the highlights was our Charity Cinderella Ball at Bolsover Castle which was a showstopper, amazing setting with fabulous food and entertainment with some superb support of other suppliers.

2012 starts with January meetings with some of our Bride and Grooms already booked in with us, our Cabaret Event on 4 February, we have secured the singers from Bjorn Again for our Abba Tribute on 5 May and we have our Charity Ball on 29 September at Casa Hotel this will be very glitzy and our charity for 2012 is for the Helpline for Hereditary Breast Cancer again.

Derbyshire Life feature the Cinderella Ball

Derbyshire Life have done a full page feature of our Cinderella Ball held at Bolsover Castle in aid of Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity our chosen charity this year.

We are so pleased, this was a fantastic event and supported by a lot of suppliers and party goers.

Love Events Weddings at Ripley Castle

We had a lovely weekend although very tiring at the Stunning Ripley Castle, Nr Harrogate. We were delighted to attend this event as exhibitors were selected by Love Events for one's with customer-friendly attitudes and superior product reputations.

The event was opened by Lady Ingilby of Ripley Castle who also met all suppliers individually as she wandered through the castle.

Having the stable area was fabulous and very authentic, a massive thank you to our models Naomi and Jessica who worked tirelesly all weekend getting our area prepared and donned some fabulous dresses. Also to Sara, Geraldine and Laura from Gel Bridal for doing all the hair and make up and to Sara for staying to help with all the brides trying on and choosing dresses.

Wedding Fayres

Many thanks to all the brides who managed to get through the ford to attend the wedding fayre/dress sale at Rufford Park Golf & Country Club on Sunday. Apologies to the one's that got stuck in the ford and those that turned back due to the high levels of water.......

Nice to have all our preferred suppliers under one roof or should I say in the attached permenant marquee and a few new one's including Chocolate Explosion, Martin the Wedding Singer and Jo's Captivating Cupcakes.

On 16 October we will be at Ripley Castle, Harrogate with Love Events which we are extremely excited about with rails of massively reduced wedding dresses for sale - pop in to have a look and grab a bargain.

Our final wedding fayre for October is on 23 at Ashover Parish Hall a very fond place this was the venue of one of our first weddings.

Summer Weddings & Events

Since our launch in the summer of 2010 it seems to have been non stop and this summer in particular has been so enjoyable with 4 weddings, 1 bridal conference, 1 Ladies night, 2 casino nights and a huge Cinderella Ball to round off the summer.

There has been a huge amount of hard work, long days, laughter and tears. It has been immensly enjoyable working with some new suppliers and terrific venues and the couples we have worked with have been amazing up to and on their big day. Some special moments for us:

• Photographs on Curbar Edge with Gemma & Tom such fantastic shots with Ross Walker of LP Photography who definately went that extra mile to achieve some amazing results for this fab couple



• Working with George from Hodsock Priory and Dominique from Complete Catering Service who made the 12 hour day a breeze
  


• The sunset for Liz and Rich to finish their perfect day - a very special couple who we will miss they were a pleasure to work with



• Hayley and Marc who made our job easy! - Hayley could have a job with us anyday..... and we loved their vision of what they wanted and glad we helped out with achieving this
  



• Jess & Steve at Ringwood we were all praying for the weather to hold off so the ceremony could go ahead outside and it did thank goodness...



• Our Cinderella Ball at Bolsover Castle was amazing and the venue and evening was truly magical and so much like a fairytale - loved every minute of this event especially our fantastic suppliers and Kerry from Taste Cuisine and her staff made this event stand out for us

Cinderella Ball

Our guests arrived to a drinks reception and canapes provided by Taste Cuisine and the sound of the string quartet - A touch of Class.

Having exclusive use of the castle meant that guests had the opportunity to have photograps in the grounds, alongside the vintage car and explore the little castle.

On display was the spectacular Cinderella Cake designed by Candy of Love Candy Cakes and the silent auction by Celebre Art.

Entertainment was led by the HMS Royal Marine big band Singer Brian Lloyd who has been entertaining the troups in Afganistan until 2 days ago. We also had the DJ from Tenacious DJing.

In true Cinderella style at midnight guests descended onto the Dukes Drive and off into the night.

A heart felt thank you to all our suppliers for supporting this event.

Liz & Rich - Hodsock Priory

Sunday 28 August was the wedding of Liz and Rich at Hodsock Priory a magnificent venue for a wedding.

Rich proposed to Liz in New York, so it was inevitable that this would be the theme including Tiffany blue invites, table names, and hand made favours with the New York landscape on the labels all designed by Rich.

We have been working with Liz and Rich since January when they won our competition in White Weddings magazine, this included full planning and on the day co-ordination as well as:

Our Cinderella Ball at Bolsover Castle is drawing nearer now and we are so excited. Tineke and everything Wedding at Gracie Bleu

I took one of our guests to the fabulous Gracie Bleu in Matlock last week for a ball gown for our Cinderella Ball after trying on a couple of dresses and both looked stunning the choice was too much so she bought both.....

One of our 2012 brides has tried on 'the dress' at Gracie Bleu and is in absolute raptures I think she is in love not just with her partner but with the dress it is gorgeous.......

Met with Kerry tonight of Tineke Floral Design knee deep in flowers as she was creating pedastal displays for a ceremony tomorrow. What's New..........

A week ago we were looking forward to the wedding of Gemma and Tom who had a fantastic day which started in the small church of St Marys next to the Sutton Scarsdale Hall, then onto the Fox & Goose at Old Brampton for their reception. But especially their photos out in the Peak District where Gemma changed from Jimmy Choos to walking boots. This was a really enjoyable part of their wedding just quiet time Gemma, Tom, Ross the photographer and me holding the reflector to get the photos just right.

Bridal Workshop

On Sunday morning at Grassmoor Golf Centre in their Hardwick Suite, some of our summer brides, their mothers and bridesmaids attended our workshop to go through:

• One month to go tips

• Mood board design

This was a particularly enjoyable morning especially as all brides came with their own items as well to add to their mood boards.

Some of the comments from the group were:

'I am glad to do a mood board at this stage as what I wanted at the beginning changed along the way and some things are totally different, so the mood board reflects the finished results'

'Great really enjoyed it and the goody bag'

'Liked the fact that you have a piece of artwork to take home at the end of the day'

Boyzaloud Review

Boyzaloud entertained a packed guest list at Casa Hotel over the weekend and had the party goers revelling into the early hours of the morning. The group had everyone dancing from the first note with their stunning vocals, harmonies and fabulous choreography.

Our Charity Cinderella Ball at the Majestic Bolsover Castle on Saturday 3 September 2011 has an opening of about 3 tables.

This event is to raise essential money for Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity who are also advertising the event and we have some fabulous suppliers supporting us even down to a spectacular Cinderella Cake designed by the fabulous Candy from Love Candy Cakes.

Venue definately recommend looking at........

During the week met up with Kerry Wilkinson from Tineke Floral Design at the fabulous Red Lion Pub & Bistro and we were very impressed with the developments.

This venue now with the addition of a 27 bedroom 4* hotel certainly has the 'Wow Factor' and although the garden and outdoor area is 95% landscaped it still looked amazing, with peacocks wandering around and heli pads also available.

A lot of thought has gone into the transformation of the Red Lion to incorporate the full package when planning a venue for a wedding. With everything the venue offers and the scenic views of the Peak District we would recommend this in our top 5 venues in the area.

We will definately be recommending this to couples and we will definately consider the Red Lion for some of our entertainment events, that is if we can get a date as weekends for 2012 are booking up at a tremendous rate.

We wish Damian, Jo and the Red Lion and their new Peak Edge Hotel all the best... To be honest I don't think they need any luck so go and have a look you will not be disappointed......
